Edward Wu
Edward Wu has worked for Willis Towers Watson for 15 years. Edward joined Willis China Captive & Mutual Practice (CCMP) as an early member and was promoted to Practice Leader in Jan 2017. CCMP is the earliest professional team for the practice in the marketplace and holds leading position across China even today. The team is dedicated in providing consulting services including feasibility study, business planning, formation and management and insurance strategy design etc. to captives and mutuals.
During the years of 2006 to 2014, Edward worked for Willis as an insurance broker in the energy related fields. As the Downstream Sector leader, he and his associates provided services for many significant and complex oil and gas downstream and upstream projects located in China or overseas.
Prior to Willis, he worked with CNOOC for 6 years involving in oil exploration, development, production and ocean engineering. -
Farah Jaafar
Farah is the Chief Executive Officer of Labuan IBFC Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Labuan Financial Services Authority, the statutory Regulatory Authority for Labuan International Business and Financial Centre, operating under the purview of Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. Labuan IBFC Incorporated serves as the jurisdiction’s official market development agency.
A seasoned strategic communication, market development and financial services professional, she brings with her experience spanning more than 25 years in wholesale financial services, putting her in good stead to develop Labuan IBFC as Asia’s go-to mid-shore wholesale financial intermediation centre.
Formerly attached to the Asian Institute of Finance and Bursa Malaysia (Malaysia’s national stock exchange), Farah has served in numerous senior market development and strategic communications roles.
She has also represented the Association of Stock Broking Companies Malaysia, a nationwide industry led lobby group representing Malaysian stockbrokers during the demutualisation exercise of the national exchange, allowing her a unique hands-on experience surrounding high strategic level issues relating to multiple stakeholder management, eco-system curation and long-term strategic business strategy.
Passionate about equality, financial inclusion and win-win partnerships, she strongly believes that “a rising tide lifts all boats”. Farah has an LLB (Hons) from Sheffield University, United Kingdom. -
Serene Liaw
Serene Liaw is the Research Manager of Labuan IBFC Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA), the statutory Regulatory Authority for Labuan International Business and Financial Centre (Labuan IBFC), under the purview of Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. Labuan IBFC Incorporated serves as the jurisdiction’s official market development agency.
Prior to joining Labuan IBFC Incorporated, she was attached to Labuan FSA for more than 10 years and headed the Business Policy Unit there. Prior hands-on experience as a regulator on policy formulation and international tax compliance has provided Serene a deeper understanding of financial solutions as well as a solid foundation in the promotion and market development initiatives of Labuan IBFC. -
Tomson Tian
Tomson has 20 years professional experience in the insurance industry. He joined Willis China in 2005 and devoted himself to insurance placement for energy enterprises. He led the Energy Department of Willis China, where his outstanding performance was recognised by both the clients and the market.
In 2018, Tomson was appointed as Head of Reinsurance Placement as the department was just set up. He proceeded to swiftly and efficiently build up a strong team and a solid business practice. He was then promoted to the role of Assistant General Manager of Willis Insurance Brokers Co. in Oct 2020 for his strong leadership and remarkable business capability.
Tomson holds bachelor of Tsing Hua University and master of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
