Datuk Danial Mah Abdullah
Danial is the Director-General of Labuan FSA, the regulatory agency of Labuan International Business and Financial Centre. Danial assumed the position of Director-General with effect from 3 October 2017. Prior to this, he was the Deputy Director-General of Labuan FSA, a position he held since 2007. He has worked in Labuan FSA since the early years of the establishment and had held various positions in the organisation. Danial is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM), Financial Stability Committee as well as Board member of the IIFM, Labuan IBFC Incorporated Sdn Bhd, LabuanFSA Incorporated Sdn Bhd and Pristine Era Sdn Bhd.
Danial is a Chartered Accountant registered with the Malaysia Institute of Accountants and also an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Malaya and a Masters in Business Administration (with Distinction) from Manchester Business School, United Kingdom. -
Roy Sharma
Roy Sharma is the current Chairman of the Labuan International Insurance Association as well as the Principal Officer and Managing Director of Asia Reinsurance Brokers (Labuan) Ltd.
Other than being the country manager for Malaysia in role at Asia Reinsurance Brokers, he is also responsible for developing and assisting their clients in Asia in certain specialised areas of insurance. His specialised areas include Political, Project & Credit Risk Insurance, Professional Indemnity, Management Liability Insurance, Financial Lines Insurance, Casualty Insurance, Extended Warranty Insurance and Affinity & Niche Solutions.
He is a sought after speaker and has presented a variety of papers in conferences and conducted numerous training seminars for insurance companies and insurance buyers around the region.
Roy also serves as the President Commissioner of PT ARB Indonesia and a Board member of ARB’s parent company. -
Cai Glushak
Dr Cai Glushak has been the Chief Medical Officer and International Medical Director AXA Partners since 2006. He is also President of European Aeromedical Institute (EURAMI) – an accreditor of air ambulances and medical escort services, as well as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago.
Dr Glushak has advised AXA Partners and AXA Group on multiple outbreaks and other global crisis including SARS-1, H1N1, MERS, Ebola. He is also experienced in advising multiple corporations on travel policy & precautions and pandemic response. -
Ariel Kou
Ariel joined Marsh in April 2016 and is currently overseeing the operations of Marsh Management Services Labuan Limited, which provides captive advisory services and delivers captive management services.
She is responsible for Marsh's portfolio of clients domiciled in Labuan including 3 captive insurance companies, a life reinsurer and a protected cell captive. Her primary duties include acting as the client contact, underwriting and claims functions.
Before her secondment to Labuan in 2019, her main focus was on captive-related business development in China. She has been involved in conducting feasibility studies and risk tolerance analysis for Chinese state owned enterprises as well as private corporates. -
Farah Jaafar
Farah is the Chief Executive Officer of Labuan IBFC Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Labuan Financial Services Authority, the statutory Regulatory Authority for Labuan International Business and Financial Centre, operating under the purview of Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. Labuan IBFC Incorporated serves as the jurisdiction’s official market development agency.
A seasoned strategic communication, market development and financial services professional, she brings with her experience spanning more than 25 years in wholesale financial services, putting her in good stead to develop Labuan IBFC as Asia’s go-to mid-shore wholesale financial intermediation centre.
Formerly attached to the Asian Institute of Finance and Bursa Malaysia (Malaysia’s national stock exchange), Farah has served in numerous senior market development and strategic communications roles.
She has also represented the Association of Stock Broking Companies Malaysia, a nationwide industry led lobby group representing Malaysian stockbrokers during the demutualisation exercise of the national exchange, allowing her a unique hands-on experience surrounding high strategic level issues relating to multiple stakeholder management, eco-system curation and long-term strategic business strategy.
Passionate about equality, financial inclusion and win-win partnerships, she strongly believes that “a rising tide lifts all boats”. Farah has an LLB (Hons) from Sheffield University, United Kingdom. -
Malcolm Cutts-Watson
Malcolm is Managing Director of Cutts-Watson Consulting.
With over four decades in the alternative risk industry, Malcolm has gained an unique insight into captives and a sophisticated outlook for the future. He is a member of the Captive Hall of Fame that recognises outstanding contribution to the industry over the past 50 years.
Malcolm has advised many Asian corporates and governments on captive strategy and spent time in China fostering the use of captives. -
Thomas Keist
Thomas joined Swiss Re Corporate Solution's Innovative Risk Solutions team in May 2016 with its mandate to lead the parametric insurance and captive solution development, as well as product development for revenue protection/business interruption. Since 1 April 2020, he is Swiss Re Corporate Solution's Global Captive Solutions Leader.
He joined Swiss Re in 1994, held several positions in the areas of structured (re)insurance and alternative risk transfer solutions. In 2000, Thomas joined Zurich Financial Services for their reinsurance unit’s Initial Public Offering under the name of Converium (now Scor). He re-joined Swiss Re in 2006 to head up Swiss Re Corporate Solution's Asia Pacific region for 5 years and was based in Singapore. Returning to Switzerland in 2011, he assumed GSA regional management responsibility and was leading the Specialty Lines practice for EMEA. Thomas holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Zurich.
